Most people know that the Tavern is old—really old. But just how old is a subject of some debate. Built in 1745 (it even says so on the menu!), it is a rare relic of Pre-Revolutionary New England designed to grind the grain raised by nearby colonial farmers. When it opened as a restaurant, we may never know. No matter. Today, The Old Grist Mill is touted by locals as the supreme New England tavern featuring everything from steaks and chops to some of the freshest seafood dishes in all of New England. Our Crab Cakes are legendary, as is the Baked Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp.
